Young Bakers mix it up for Macmillan

Elmscot Group children around Altrincham, Cheshire, have turned budding bakers for the week as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, raising a phenomenal £1019.16 for the cancer support charity at their 8 School’s Out Before & After School Clubs and at Elmscot and Woodlands Day Nurseries.

Elmscot Group of nurseries and School’s Out clubs have created cakes, biscuits and muffins to sell to staff, families and visitors for the whole week, with the help of Sugar and Crumbs, a local baking ingredients supplier who donated baking ingredients and flavourings to help the cakes taste as professional as possible.

Justyna from Elmscot Day Nursery said: “Baking is always a fun activity for the children but this is the first time we have organised a co-ordinated ‘Bake-Off’` across the group and we are very grateful to have such wonderful ingredients to work with.”

John McFarland, MD of Sugar and Crumbs, said: “Our cocoa powders and icing sugars help make even the most amateur bakers create professional-tasting cakes, so this partnership may just unearth a Mary Berry in the making! We’re delighted to support Elmscot by donating products to help them in their Macmillan Coffee Mornings.”
