Elmscot Group Nursery Apprentice Scoops Top Prize at NMT Awards 2018

At this year’s prestigious Nursery Management Today (NMT) Awards, Georgia Heywood (née Hammond) of Woodlands Day Nursery in Timperley was announced as winner of the Nursery Apprentice 2018 Award.

Official judges’ comments on selecting Georgia as winner stated she stood out from other nominees “because she demonstrated an exceptional knowledge and understanding of the needs of children. It was evident throughout how passionate Georgia is about the nursery, her role and the children and team she works with.”

The 16th national awards ceremony and gala evening was held on Saturday 1st December 2018 at The Hilton London Metropole. TV and radio broadcaster, Gethin Jones hosted the ceremony and presented each award to the winners of the evening.

Established in 2006, Woodlands Day Nursery is part of the Elmscot Group of nurseries based in Hale, Cheshire. This setting has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted and benefits from a beautiful outside space surrounded by open fields.

Danielle Riley, Nursery Manager at Woodlands Day Nursery accepted the award on Georgia’s behalf. Other finalists of this year’s NMT Awards from Elmscot Group joined Danielle at the event, including: Stacey Thompson, Nursery Manager at Hale Day Nursery; Hannah Reeves, Group Manager at Kids Collective; Mariana Fletcher, Nursery Room Leader at Woodlands Day Nursery; and Sophie Murray, Nursery Room Leader at Hale Day Nursery. Director, Stephanie Molnar and Group Operations Manager, Rachael Lyons were proud to accompany the team for the evening.

Georgia was delighted when she found out she had won Nursery Apprentice 2018, saying: “There’s no lack of motivation when you’re doing something you love, but being recognised on such a big platform for your commitment and hard work makes everything a bit more special. I feel very proud of my achievements, my setting and the Elmscot Group as a whole.”

Her manager, Danielle felt very proud of Georgia’s achievement, which marks her continued success within Woodlands Day Nursery.

“The evening was certainly a celebration of how amazing Elmscot Group is and how passionate and dedicated our teams are in providing outstanding, first-class childcare.

“We are thrilled that Georgia walked away as winner of Nursery Apprentice 2018. I’d like to congratulate her on this incredible achievement, as it signifies all the great work she does in the nursery.”
